My LDS Conversion Story
When people hear conversion story they often think of a person not already a member of a group or organization. I, as well as many others in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), was born into the church. My parents were both life-long members, so each of my 5 siblings and I attended the LDS Church from day one. I had read verses in the Book of Mormon here and there and believed everything I had been taught was true, but my full conversion came when I was 19.
I was attending church every week as I always had and it started to make me really think if it mattered or not whether I went. I knew that if it were true I would devote my whole life to it, but I had to know for certain. I began reading the Book of Mormon every day, many pages at a time. I had an inspired Bishop, at that time, challenge the Ward to read the whole book within 40 days. My life started changing in ways I hadn't expected. I was happier, had more energy, and a completely different view on life. For the first time in many years, I felt I was living, not just being around day to day. It had to be true, but I still needed to pray and ask. When I knelt down in prayer to ask my Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true (Moroni, a Book of Mormon prophet, promises us we will know of its truth through prayer and the Holy Ghost Moroni 10: 3-5). As I prayed, I had a very distinct thought and feeling from the Holy Ghost, "Tiffany, you know it's true." That was all I needed to hear and my testimony has been unshaken ever since.
I never realized how much my life would be blessed by those 5 simple words that came to my mind that night. I didn't realize everything I would have and would be able to give to others would start there. I vowed to never walk away from that truth and do all I could to be a light to others!
